I am a cognitive scientist studying language and cognition. I investigate the extent to which cognitive biases lead different languages to be represented and learned in the same way. I adopt a multi-method approach to understanding the nature of such biases, bringing together studies of adult semantic representation, cross-linguistic diversity, emerging sign languages and child language learning. I focus on the domain of event semantics, particularly concepts related to agency, instrumentality and causation.
